Lavish Linens

Hello dear friends! For those in the UAE I hope you had a lovely break. Frankly I'm grateful for it as I needed it to recharge my creativity. Today I stumbled over some lavish linens of chairs and tables for an unforgettable wedding! As you know there's no wedding (that I know of) in the UAE that doesn't use linens or creatively colorful fabrics to dress up 'blah' chairs and tables to let it blend with the wedding decor theme to complete the gorgeous ambiance.

Aroma Amore

I'm proud to say that I inhereted my appreciation to fine fragerences from my mother who no doubt inhereted it from my grandmother who valued fine Dehn Oud (arabic perfume). I confess that I barely use it if I'm going out to a public as it's not appropriate to have your scent noticed from a while away (I'm culturaly old school that way), but if there's an evening soiree, speci8fically a wedding, then I will gloriously shower myself in the finest of scents : )
I don't have a particular advise to you my dears on how to select a perfume but I'll tell you this. When you try out a perfume, spray it on your wrist, give it a minute to cool, then smell it. Don’t select a scent because it smells so great on your friend. Different bodies and pH levels can make the same bottle of perfume smell very different on two different people and lastly if you feel that the scent lifts your spirit and makes you feel attractive, then that is the scent for you. My dears I'm off to London for a week inshAllah. Believe it or not i've never really been to London so should be an interesting experience! Looking forward to spend quality time with my family and meet up with friends...and to be inspired of course! : )

Wedding Day: Dos & Don'ts

My dear readers, my sincere apologies for not posting as often as I usually do, been busy runnin like a headless chicken in preparation for Eid!I've been reading some interesting articles from a fine author  (Johanna Docena) and I enjoyed some of her Dos and Dont's tips and included my own as there are MANY  things a bride in the UAE 9or anywhere) can do and CANNOT do. Now we all know that you worked your derrier off for months (or year) to make this wedding the wedding of your dreams. Everything is all set but before you enter the ballroom (or aisle) in all your bridal glory you need to remember these pointers that can make you a happy bride or a bitter one who'll end up in a state of "If onlys" for a very long time!

DOs

• Have a satisfying breakfast on the morning of your wedding, I promise you, you won't be able to eat properly after that.
• Have a bubble bath or dip in the tub, this will calm you tremedously
• Prepare early. Have your make-up and hair done ahead of time. Have your attendants arrive early too.
• French Manicure, unless you're a quirky bride, stick to soft french manicure so it won't overpower the gown
• Before reaching the Ballroom or aisle, do some facial exercises and take deep breathes so you wouldn't look too nervous. Nothing's more painful than a bride with a nervous smile, you'll look like you need to go to the loo!
• Interact with your guests especially your family. (GCC brides, please change the trend of walking on the catwalk, sitting saying quick hellos, then leaving with the groom. Try to interact more! Some fantastic brides broke that habbit and enjoyed the wedding as much as the happy guests)
• Enjoy your wedding day. Smile for God's Sake

DONTs

• Do not overdo the make-up. You want to be a more beautiful version of yourself not someone else (specifically a drag queen)
• Don’t be late. Nothing is uglier than a very late bride I assure you. For no matter how lovely the decor is people will always remember how late you were!
• You do not want to ruin the most important day in your life by getting involved in the details of the wedding, leave that stress to a reliable wedding planner or a relative with a very good taste.
• Practise, practise and practise walking in your gowns ladies!
• Do not forget to bring your sense of humor with you. You will need tons of this especially when things are not going the way you wanted to.
